Vice President Jejomar Binay said his friendship with the Aquino family would stay even if he does not get their support in 2016.

“Nakapagsabi na po ang magkakapatid na magkakahiwalay kami sa pulitika at ginagalang ko po naman ang kanilang desisyon,” Binay said in an interview over DZMM on Tuesday.

(The Aquino sisters have already said that we will not be together in politics and I respect their decision)

“Pero hindi naman ho mawawala ang amin pagkakaibigan at hindi ko po buburahin sa katawan ko ang utang na loob ko po kay Pangulong Cory na s’ya hong naglagay sa akin sa pamahalaan. Ako nga ho ay nalagay na kauna-unahang local official pagkatapos po mg Edsa revolution,” he said, referring to the late President Corazon Aquino.

(But our friendship will stay and I will not forget that I owed President Cory, who appointed me in government. I was the first local official appointed in government after the Edsa revolution.)

The late president was swept into power after the 1986 Edsa revolution.

Binay was reacting to Aquino sisters’ earlier pronouncement that they would not support his presidential bid after his tirades against President Benigno Aquino III and his administration. IDL
