VICE President Jejomar Binay said that Filipino boxing champion and legislator Manny Pacquiao should run for vice president come 2016 if he was not underage.
In an interview, Binay said that Pacquiao had reservations in running for the second highest position in the land.
“Personal na lang n’ya ‘yon (na desisyon) kaya abangan na lang natin pagdating ng pagpa-file ng certificate of candidacy,” Binay said on Thursday.
(It’s his personal decision not to run for vice president but let’s wait for his decision when the filing of certificate of candidacy starts.)
The Sarangani representative is currently 36-years-old. A vice president should be at least 40-years-old when elected.
Binay, on his part, has not yet chosen a running mate for the 2016 elections. He left the task of finding his vice president to a search committee.
He also revealed that Princess Jacel Kiram and actress Alma Moreno would be part of the UNA senatorial slate.
Pacquiao is being wooed by the camp of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas to return to the Liberal Party, according to lawmaker Yacap Rep. Carol Jayne Lopez.
