136 billion porn videos will be watched in 2015—research

JAKARTA, Indonesia–Over 136 billion adult videos are expected to be watched in 2015 alone, the latest data from UK-based digital market research specialist Juniper Research shows. The number is based on an assumption that each smartphone user of adult content will watch an average of 348 videos this year globally. Juniper also forecast that the figure of adult videos viewed would grow to 193 billion by 2020. In relation to overall video views, Juniper expected that access to online videos would increase by almost 55 percent by 2020 with the biggest growth being in the US, while Western Europe would see a more modest increase. In developing countries, service uptake will be rapid, driven by increasing availability of 4G and WiFi, as well as increases in smartphone and tablet ownership. Another key finding in the report was a forecast on the severe decline in revenues for adult SMS services, while augmented reality content will see growth across the period, although usage will remain with a niche user base.
