Trillanes: Binay’s resignation removes conflict in straight path drive

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV welcomed the news of Vice President Jejomar Binay’s resignation from the Aquino Cabinet as a “positive development” that removed any “inconsistency in the ‘straight path’ slogan of the Aquino administration.”

Trillanes, who was among the senators most active in uncovering the alleged corruption of Binay as mayor of Makati City in the Senate hearings, said Binay’s departure from the Cabinet has given the Aquino administration the chance to “go all-out against Binay.”

“Finally! This is a very positive political development.  More importantly, it (the Aquino administration) can now go all-out against VP Binay. “Now, there is no more inconsistency in the ‘tuwid na daan’ (straight path) slogan of the PNoy Administration,” Trillanes said.

Sen. Francis Escudero was neutral in his reaction, saying Binay’s resignation “signals the start of the 2016 elections where officials begin resigning” to focus on their campaigns.
