Vice President Jejomar Binay said he would forge unity in government if elected as president next year.

“I want to be remembered as a unifying president,” Binay told a media forum on Wednesday.

Binay spoke amid increasing political division as probable candidates for the country’s top post intensify their posturing for the 2016 polling.

The Vice President has also been the focus of a series of exposes alleging that he and his family committed massive graft in office. Such revelations have stirred anticipation that he would mete out vengeance on his political enemies if he wins the presidency.

And amid exposes on his alleged involvement in corruption, Binay said that if elected he would continue the Aquino administration’s anti-graft drive.

Going further, the Vice President said that a Binay Cabinet would be filled with technocrats and not politicians.

“Gusto ko ng Cabinet members na successful. May mga dating Cabinet member diyan na magagaling,” (I want Cabinet members who are successful. There are former Cabinet members who are qualified) he said.

“Ayoko ng politico,” (I don’t want politicians,) Binay added.

But he said he would get a former governor or mayor who had a successful term to be appointed as the head of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
