A draft report of the Senate blue ribbon subcommittee has recommended the filing of plunder charges against Vice President Jejomar Binay, Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay and 18 others in connection with the alleged corruption anomalies in Makati City.

JV Bautista, spokesman of Binay’s United Nationalist Alliance, said before the resumption of the subpanel’s hearing that the camp of the Vice President is no longer surprised with the subcommittee’s draft report.

“What is so earthshaking about this?” Bautista said in a press briefing, adding that the plunder charges have already been filed against Binay before the Ombudsman.

“It (draft report) has no purpose at all,” he said.

Amid the massive corruption allegations against the Binays, Bautista said the Vice President “remains as the top contender for the President.”
