Vice President Jejomar Binay said that it is dangerous to pass the leadership of the country to leaders who lack experience and competence as it would aggravate the problems currently being experienced by the country.

Binay said that he is “more determined” to run for president in 2016 so that he can infuse competence and experience in the national leadership.

“I sincerely believe that the issue in this coming election – for the presidency particularly – is experience and competence. We have undergone and still undergoing so many things that could not have been serious problems were it not for the fact that one does not have experience and competence,” Binay said in a statement on Sunday.

The vice president is facing a new wave of corruption allegations with the granting of the Court of Appeals of the petition of the Anti-Money Laundering Council to freeze 242 bank accounts of Binay, his family members, and alleged dummies which totaled P600 million.

Binay’s camp maintained that Binay has only five bank accounts.

“And to the one who owns the other 237 accounts, rest assured that it is not owned by Jojo Binay,” he said.

The vice president said that he expects his clarifications to fall into the deaf ears of his detractors.

“As they say, for those who believe, no explanation is necessary.  But for those who don’t, none will suffice. Sadly, it all boils down to this,” he added.

On the other hand, Binay’s spokesperson Atty. Rico Quicho hit the release of the AMLC report, saying that it marks the “start of their last ditch effort to malign the vice president.”

“The unfair and irresponsible release of the report on the Court of Appeals freeze order and the AMLC’s confidential and one-sided report has all the underpinnings of a sinister plot to deprive the vice president the proper opportunity to be heard,” Quicho said.

“The vice president’s political detractors are clearly capitalizing on trial by publicity through fishing of evidence and shame campaign. Regardless, the vice president is steadfast to protect his rights under the rule of law and pursue actions to vindicate the wrong done so he can continue his fight to uplift the lives of our people,” the spokesman added.
