100 families affected in new Valenzuela fire

About 100 families were affected in a fire that razed a neighborhood in Valenzuela City on Saturday midnight, radio and TV reports said Sunday.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the fire took place in a residential area on Pinagpala Street in Lower Tamaraw, Marulas, Valenzuela City.

It reached the 5th alarm at 11:09 p.m. Saturday. Fire out was declared at 12:07 a.m. Sunday.

As of 2 a.m., Mayor Rex Gatchalian through Valenzuela City’s official Facebook account said about 45 families have been evacuated at Serrano Elementary School.

There were no reported casualties. The cause was yet to be determined as of posting.

The incident took place a few days after a fire gutted Kentex Manufacturing, a footwear factory in Barangay Ugong that caused the death of 72 workers. TVJ
