President Aquino on Thursday received another honorary doctorate degree, this time from the Tarlac State University during conferment rites in Malacañang.

In his acceptance speech, the President expressed gratitude that “none other than my fellow Tarlaqueños recognize what the entire nation has achieved these past four years and eleven months.”

“I am indeed grateful to Tarlac State University for conferring on me this honorary degree in humanities, which is an incredibly meaningful gesture,” he said.

Aquino cited the value of education and how it could empower Filipinos. He rattled off such government programs as the conditional cash transfer as a means to “capacitate our people so that they can take part and contribute to growth.”

He said the administration’s “agenda of empowerment” also covered the work by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.–Christian V. Esguerra
