Typhoon ‘Dodong’ slows down; three areas still under signal No. 3

Typhoon “Dodong” (international name “Noul”) slowed down as it moved to the eastern coast of northern Luzon on Saturday, the state weather bureau had said.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Dodong continued to move west northwest at 18 kilometers per hour.

Typhoon-Noul-Dodong-Philippines-Storm-Signals-Update-9Heavy to intense rains are forecast within the 200-kilometer diameter of the typhoon, with maximum sustained winds of 160 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195 kph.

The eye of the typhoon was located 350 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, at 4 p.m.

Public storm warning signal No. 3 is still raised in Cagayan, Isabela and northern Aurora.

Meanwhile, signal No. 2 was raised in Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, the rest of Aurora, Polillo Island, Catanduanes and Quirino.

Signal No. 1 is raised in Batanes, Abra, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Benguet, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.

Storm signals elsewhere are already lifted.

Dodong is expected to make landfall over the Isabela-Cagayan area on Sunday and is supposed to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday evening.

Storm surge of up to two meters may also occur along the eastern coast of Camarines Sur, Quezon, Isabela and Cagayan.
