4.2-magnitude quake hits sea off Pacquiao’s Sarangani
Days before Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. rock Las Vegas with their megafight, a magnitude 4.2 quake shook the sea off the Filipino champions hometown of Sarangani in Mindanao.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported that the quake occurred under water in the Celebes Seas 284 kilometers southwest of Sarangani at 11:48 p.m. Monday night.
Phivolcs said the quake was tectonic in origin or involved the movement of the earth’s crust.
The agency said it did not expect any damages or aftershocks from the temblor.
Meanwhile, the world waits with bated breath for the earth-shaking clash between Pacquiao and Mayweather on May 2 (May 3 in Manila) at the MGM Grand. CB
