Fire razes iconic Original Savory resto in Manila

A fire razed a restaurant near Escolta bridge in Binondo, Manila, Thursday morning.

Fire Rescue PH Twitter account said that the fire started at the Original Savory Restaurant at around 11:02 a.m.

It reached fifth alarm by 11:24 a.m and reached Task Force Bravo by 12:39 p.m, which means more than 10 fire trucks from various cities are needed to put out the fire.

By 12:57 p.m, the fire was declared under control.

The fire was put out at around 1:58 p.m.

Aside from the restaurant, the fire also gutted several buildings near it.

As a result of the fire, Jones Bridge was closed to traffic. No one was reported injured.

The Original Savory restaurant opened as a small panciteria in Quiapo in 1950.

Since then, it has expanded its menu and was known for its special fried chicken recipe. It now has several branches in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The burned restaurant was the first Original Savory branch. TVJ
