Grace Poe trumps Binay in Magdalo survey but…
SENATOR Grace Poe is the leading presidential candidate for the 2016 polls if she would have only five opponents in the race.
In the pre-election survey conducted by Magdalo partylist, the neophyte senator garnered 31 percent points, narrowly beating second placer Vice President Jejomar Binay who got 30.6 percent points.
On the other hand, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte placed third with 16.2 percent points.
Administration backed candidate Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II came in distant fourth place, only getting 9.2 percent points while Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago placed fifth with 8.5 percent points.
Last on the list was former Rehabilitation Czar Panfilo Lacson who obtained 3.0 percent points.
Respondents who have no response reached 1.5 percent.
Article continues after this advertisementPoe was the top pick of respondents coming from the National Capital Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Region 1, Region 4, Region 5, Region 6, Region 11 and Caraga Region.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, Binay led the five-way presidential race in Regions 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12.
But in another scenario, which considers 10 candidates vying to become the nation’s next chief executive, Binay emerged on top while Poe came in a close second.
Other candidates considered for a 10-way presidential race include: Duterte, Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada, Senator Chiz Escudero, Roxas, Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Defensor-Santiago, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and Lacson.
Meanwhile for Vice President, Escudero topped the survey with 51 percent points. Magdalo bet Senator Antonio Trillanes IV placed a far second with 26 percent points.
Lacson placed third with 10.8 percent points while Cayetano ranked fourth with 9.9 percent points.
The nationwide survey, which was conducted from April 14 to 16, interviewed 2,937 respondents and has a margin of error of 1.8 percent.
In recent polls conducted by public opinion pollsters Social Weather Stations and Pulse Asia, Binay remained the leading choice to succeed President Benigno Aquino III.
