THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has ordered provincial bus operators with inter-island routes to suspend their trips once public storm signal number 1 is raised over roll-on roll-off (RORO) paths.
LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez said the order was issued to “ensure the safety of the riding public” as typhoon “Chedeng” (international name: Maysak) nears.
Ginez said the suspension of trips would take effect until all public storm signals are lifted in the affected areas and the go-signal from the Philippine Coast Guard for resumption of port operations.
The LTFRB chief said that violators of the order would be heavily penalized.
In its latest weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said “Chedeng” packed maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 210 kph. AC
