MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued two fishermen, whose motorbanca’s engine failed in the waters off Bacag in Bataan on December 20.
In a report released on Sunday, the PCG identified the fishermen as Giovannie Austria and Angelo Pilote who were rescued in Barangay Binuangan.

According to the PCG, its station in Bataan received a phone call about the incident in Barangay Binauangan around 8:03 a.m. last Friday.
Responding to the call, the Coast Guard Sub-Station Bagac conducted a search and rescue operation, assisting them was BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409).
“On December 21, at around 07:30 a.m., BRP Cabra (MRRV-4409) arrived at the port of Lamar. Upon their arrival, the rescued fishermen were examined by Brgy. Lamao RHU to assess their vital signs,” the PCG said.
“After the examination, CGS Bataan personnel, along with CGSS Limay, turned over the rescued fishermen and their fishing banca, Martina Leigh, to Mr. Eugene A Pascual, the niece of one of the rescued fishermen, Mr. Giovannie Austria,” it added.
