Aquino to pray for those with ‘intense hate’ against him

IN addition to staying in Manila to monitor typhoon “Maysak,” President Benigno Aquino III will also spend the Holy Week praying for his critics.

Aquino, during an inspection of the Batangas Port, said his spiritual advisers and other religious leaders have advised him to have some “quiet time.”

“So far wala pa tayong quiet time. Siyempre ‘yung headlines kaninang umaga does not induce one to have quiet moments,” he said. “Pero at the end of the day, siguro pagmumuni-munihan ko ‘yung ‘di ba, some quarters have this intense hate that they have continuously exhibited. Siguro, I’ll concentrate on praying for them.”

(So far I have not been able to have quiet time. Of course the news headlines this morning does not induce one to have quiet moments. But at the end of the day, perhaps I will reflect on those quarters that have this intense hate that they have continuously exhibited. Maybe I’ll concentrate on praying for them.)

Lately, the President has been drawing flak for his handling of the botched Mamasapano operation. This has led to calls for his resignation, as well as his record low trust and approval ratings.  AC
