Pasay, Las Piñas, Parañaque to go dry

Customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. (MWSI) in parts of Pasay, Las Piñas, Parañaque, as well as Cavite province, should expect service interruptions ranging from 14 hours to 28 hours from Tuesday to Friday this week.

In a statement, Maynilad said that due to a flood control project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), these areas will experience waterless periods.

“Designed to address the perennial flooding in Manila, the DPWH project involves the construction of an interceptor drainage box culvert (DBC) on Blumentritt Street,” the company added.

Maynilad explained that the DBC would cross its pipeline at the corner of Juan Luna and Hermosa Streets in Manila. This means that the water pipe would have to be realigned to allow the DPWH project to proceed.

“[We need] 72 hours to drain, realign and energize [the] affected water pipe because it is a 2,200-millimeter primary line, about seven feet in diameter,” it said. 

The company added that in anticipation of the DPWH project, it had previously laid a 1,500-mm (about six feet) bypass line through which the water supply would continue to flow as the adjustment to the primary line was being done.

“The DPWH allowed Maynilad to undertake its pipe realignment activity over the Holy Week when fewer customers are expected to be home, to [reduce] the impact of the service interruptions on water consumers,” it said.

Maynilad added that around 24 roving water tankers would be on standby to serve areas that would experience prolonged interrupted supply.

28-hour interruption in Las Piñas

Worst-affected are customers in Las Piñas, particularly those in the barangays of Daniel Fajardo, Elias Aldana, Ilaya, Manuyo Uno and Manuyo Dos, who will be without water from 2 p.m. on March 31 until 6 p.m. on April 1.

This will also be the case in some areas in Parañaque City such as Don Galo, La Huerta, Sto. Niño, San Dionisio (Villanueva Village, Gatchalian Subdivision, Bernabe I-II Subdivision, Olivares Compound, Avida Condominium-Sucat), Moonwalk (area on Daang Batang Street, Fast Track Street, E. Rodriguez Avenue, Las Casas Subdivision, San Agustin Village, Valenzuela Compound, Halik Alon Compound, Multinational Village, Riverside Multinational), BF Homes (BF Crab Enclave, BF Northwest, BF Solano), and Sector 10 Enclave, Tia Maria, BF Thai, BF International, Southville International School area, BF Mariposa Subdivision),

San Isidro (Dela Cruz Compound; Simplicio Cruz Compound; Clarmentina Village; Sandiville Subdivision; Fortunata Village; Silverio Compound; Gatchalian Subdivision area; Multinational Village; San Antonio Valley 2, 6, 13, 14 & 15; Topland Subdivision area, Guerrero Compound, Sitio Nazareth area, Mihara Homes Subdivision, Lopez Village, Vitalez Compound, Dr. F.C. Waterless in Pasay, Parañaque

Areas that will be without water for 14 hours (from noon on April 1 to 2 a.m. the next day) are Barangay 201 in Pasay City and parts of Parañaque City. These are Merville (Merville Subdivision, Buenavida Subdivision, Molave Park Village, Greenvale Subdivision), Marcelo and San Antonio (San Antonio Valley 1, 5, 8, 9 & 10; Hernandez Avenue area, Malacañang Village, Don Aguedo Homes, Remmanville Subdivision, Annex 38/Malacañang Dulo area, Jestra Village, Camella Homes, Barangay Village, Sitio San Roque, Welcome Village),

Moonwalk (Mariano Centerpoint Subdivision, Moonwalk Village Phase 3, Isabelle Garden Villas, Moonwalk Village II–RHOMVI, area on E. Rodriguez Avenue, Milkyway Street, Bricktown Subdivision, Kaingin Road, Sitio Libjo, Moonwalk Village-Phase 1 Moonwalk Residents Association, Inc., South Green Park), and San Isidro (Greenheights Subdivision).

Certain areas in Parañaque City will be waterless for 18 hours—from midnight on April 2 until 6 p.m that same day. These are BF Homes (Sampaloc Site II, BF Phase East Phase 6, Teoville Subdivision area, Maywood Village I, BF Mayuga area, BF Agelor Triangle area, BF Classic Homes, BF New South Homeowners Association, Ireneville Subdivision, BF Phase 6A, Sinagtala Village area, Batac St. area, Tahanan Village Subdivision, Ipil Ville, Target 1–4, Clinic Ville, BF Harp, BF Manresa, BF Central, Tirona North Enclave, BF Crab Enclave, area along Adelita Chioco Street, Sector 10 Enclave, Masville area, South Bay Homes, Estrada Compound area, Goodwill 3 Subdivision, area on Sucat Road/Goodwill 2 Subdivision), San Antonio (area on Sucat Road at Sarroca Compound, Fourth Estate Subdivision, Soreena Ave., Garcia Heights, Meliton Espiritu Compound, Mon-El Subdivision).

From noon on April 2 until 6 a.m. the next day, the following areas will be waterless in Cavite province: Cavite City; parts of Noveleta (Magdiwang, Poblacion, Salcedo I & II, San Rafael I, II, & III, San Juan I & II, Sta. Rosa I, Areas on M. Salud Road) and portions of Rosario (Rosario Water System, Kanluran, Muzon II, Poblacion, Sapa III, Silangan I & II, Wawa II & III).

In Las Piñas City, the following areas will be affected from midnight on April 3 until 2 p.m. that same day: Manuyo Uno, Manuyo Dos, Pamplona Uno, Pamplona Dos, Pamplona Tres, Pulang Lupa Uno, Pulang Lupa Dos and Zapote.

“To minimize inconvenience, Maynilad is appealing to its customers to store enough water for the duration of the interruption,” Maynilad said.
