MANILA, Philippines—The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has warned taxi drivers that it would enforce the “full force of the law” against those who refuse to abide by the reduced taxi flag-down rate.

“Kailangang ipakita at ipadama sa kanila (taxi drivers) ang full force of law,” Ginez told Radyo Inquirer 990 in an interview Tuesday.

Since the rollback’s implementation on Monday, March 9, Ginez said the agency has received numerous complaints on its “complaint platforms.”

Ginez said he has ordered the agency’s legal division to issue a show cause order and suspension of particular units involved in the complaints.

He said the suspension would prohibit the driver involved to be deployed by the operator.

The LTFRB official said asking for additional charges to passengers is considered “a form of contracting or overcharging.”

He advised taxi drivers to abide by the reduced taxi flag-down rate because this is a “legitimate order,” saying it would only be lifted upon the issuance of a new order.

The LTFRB urged commuters to report taxi drivers who refuse to acknowledge the P10-rollback through the agency’s number at 426-2515 or through 09214487777 or on its Twitter account @LTFRB_Chairman.
