Explosion disrupts classes at Cebu Technological University
CEBU CITY, Philippines—A loud explosion heard near the canteen of the Cebu Technological University disrupted classes and forced students to evacuate the campus Tuesday morning.
Fire was then seen in the area occupied by the canteen concessionaires, said Greg Gamboa, the University Extension Services head.
The City Fire Department and barangay (village) fire brigades immediately responded to the fire reported at 8:18 a.m.
The fire, which was put out in about 12 minutes, damaged the kiosks at the canteen but failed to affect nearby buildings in the campus.
Fire investigators are still probing the origin of the explosion and the subsequent fire.
