CEBU CITY, Philippines – Fire gutted on Wednesday noon a two-classroom building of the Pitalo Elementary School in San Fernando town, about 28 kilometers south of this city.

No one was hurt because the children were on their lunch break when the fire broke out about 12:20 p.m., said school principal Era Alia.

She said the two classrooms were used by Grades 1 and 2 pupils.

Fire fighters from San Fernando town put out the flame even before fire trucks from neighboring Naga City and Minglanilla town arrived.

Only the concrete columns were left of the building that was built in 1957. Fire department officials believed that the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring.
