Marikina store owner killed

MANILA, Philippines—A sari-sari (retail) store owner in Marikina City died while his neighbor was wounded after two motorcycle-riding men fired at the former as he was closing for the day on Wednesday.

The police said that Angelito Rayo died on the spot in front of his house on Gumamela Street, Sampaguita Village, in Barangay Malanday around 12:15 a.m. His neighbor Feloteo Tarucan, who was drinking with friends in a nearby alley, was hit by a stray bullet in the buttocks and taken to Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center for treatment.

PO3 Rodrigo Febreo Jr. said they have yet to identify the suspects and determine their motives since the family of the 38-year-old told probers that he had no enemies.

The driver of the motorcycle was described around 40 to 45 years old. He had a helmet on and a green jacket while his back rider, between 45 and 50 years old, wore a face mask and red jacket.

Both escaped on a black motorcycle without license plates. Authorities recovered from the crime scene 14 casings and and four slugs from a still unidentified firearm. Jovic Yee
