Bells toll as Pope arrives in PH
TACLOBAN CITY—The bells of Palo Cathedral pealed on Thursday to signal the arrival of Pope Francis in the Philippines.
The bells tolled amid the cheers of Supertyphoon “Yolanda” survivors who were watching the pope’s arrival through a projector.
Around 100 typhoon survivors gathered around the projector showing the papal plane’s arrival at Villamor Airbase in Metro Manila at 5:32 p.m.
Pope Francis will visit Tacloban on January 17 for a Mass at the airport before proceeding to Palo to bless the Pope Francis Center, then to Palo Cathedral to offer a candle on the mass grave of Yolanda fatalities.
