53 confirmed deaths due to ‘Seniang’
MANILA, Philippines-The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Wednesday noon confirmed that the death toll from Tropical Depression “Seniang” had dramatically risen, to 53.
In a press briefing, NDRRMC Undersecretary Alexander Pama said most of the fatalities were from Catbalogan City.
On Monday, “Seniang” made its first landfall over Surigao del Sur.
As of 6 a.m. Wednesday, “Seniang” has caused P3,681,800 worth of damage in the agricultural sector.
NDRRMC added that 27,397 families or 121,737 people have felt the effects of “Seniang,” with at least 5,046 families evacuated.
The province of Bohol has also been placed under a state of calamity after it bore the brunt of “Seniang.”
