PNP: Despite firing cases, Christmas generally peaceful
MANILA, Philippines–The Christmas celebration in the country was “generally peaceful” except for a few untoward incidents, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Friday.
Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor, PNP spokesman, said in a text message that the incidents monitored by the police were mostly related to indiscriminate firing.
Mayor said the PNP monitored at least three incidents of trigger-happy individuals and one incident of stray bullet in Metro Manila during the holiday revelry.
The police official said six incidents of indiscriminate firing have been recorded in the Ilocos region while similar cases have been reported in Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Eastern Visayas, and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Mayor said a security guard was involved in indiscriminate firing in Central Luzon while one person was hurt due to a stray bullet in the Calabarzon region.
