Arroyo leaves hospital detention for Christmas furlough

MANILA, Philippines–Former President and incumbent Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo left the Veterans Memorial Medical Center (VMMC) in Quezon City on Tuesday morning for her Christmas furlough.

A radio report said Arroyo left the VMMC, where she has been under hospital arrest since 2011 for plunder, at 10:17 a.m. and headed for her La Vista residence in Quezon City. The court allowed her to spend Christmas only at this house.

Arroyo was aboard a white minibus escorted by police vehicles and motorcycles.
