‘Ruby’ to exit PAR by Wednesday evening; storm signal over Metro Manila lowered to 1
MANILA, Philippines—Now Tropical Storm “Ruby” (international name: Hagupit) has further weakened, now packing maximum sustained winds at 65 kilometers per hour (kph) from 85 kph and gustiness of up to 80 kph from 100 kph, the state weather bureau said.
In its 11 p.m. update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Ruby is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday evening with its current pace of 13 kph.
Public storm warning Signal No. 2 was hoisted over Batangas, northern Oriental Mindoro, northern Occidental Mindoro, and Lubang Island.
Metro Manila, Bulacan, Rizal, Bataan, Cavite, Laguna, Southern Quezon, and the rest of Mindoro provinces were placed under Signal No. 1.
As of 9 p.m. Monday, Ruby’s center was located 45 kilometers south southeast of Ambulong, Tanauan City, Batangas.
Ruby made its fourth landfall in Laiya, Batangas, Monday evening. According to the Philippine Red Cross, the typhoon left at least 21 people dead.
