MANILA, Philippines—The Legal Education Board (LEB) has issued a notice informing the public that the University of Manila’s College of Law has been ordered to close after it failed to meet minimum standards.
The LEB, in a statement on Monday, said the closure was effective starting Academic Year 2024-2025, based on a “thorough evaluation of the legal education institution’s compliance with legal education standards and regulatory requirements.”

“The University of Manila College of Law has been notified about the closure order since June 5, 2024,” the LEB said.
“However, the LEB has received information that the school continues to accept enrollees. Hence, this notice is issued to warn the public that the Legal Education Board does not recognize enrollment in the said school,” it added.
The LEB said the closure resulted from following: the university’s dismal performance in the Bar examinations, its failure to meet the prescribed curriculum and academic standards for legal education, and deficiencies in institutional facilities and resources necessary for quality legal instruction.
