5 roads not passable in Catanduanes due to floods

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – At least five roads were blocked by floods and landslides in Catanduanes after Typhoon “Ruby” hit the island- province, the military said Monday.

Major Angelo Guzman, spokesman of Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Southern Luzon Command, said three of these roads were flooded while two were blocked by soil softened and eroded by heavy rains, which continued without let up since Friday.

He said the San Miguel-Viga Road along Kanlanka Spillway in the adjoining towns of San Miguel and Viga and the Catanduanes Circumferential Road-Balongbong Bridge detour in Barangay (village) Sibacungan of Bato town were flooded by swollen river on Sunday.

The road along the spillway in Barangay Bacon in Caramoran town was also flooded, he said.
Roads that were not passable due to landslides Sunday were the junction road between the towns of Panganiban and Sabloyon and the section of Catanduanes Circumferential Road in Barangay Hinipaan of Bagamanoc town.

No casualty was reported in Catanduanes, he said.
