Children paid dearly for father’s affair with neighbor’s wife in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY — A man has been arrested for killing two children in their sleep, which he said was his way of taking revenge against their father who was allegedly having an affair with his wife in Rizal, Laguna, police said.

Laguna police director Senior Superintendent Florendo Saligao identified the victims as Shiela Monicea, 12, and her brother Sherwin Jay, 10.

He said the children were left alone in their home in Barangay (village) Tuy when stabbed to their deaths by their neighbor, Allan Jed Aquino,21.

Saligao, in a phone interview, said Aquino invited the victims’ father to drink in the suspect’s home on Friday evening.

When the father passed out, Aquino went to the Moniceas’ house and stabbed the children in their sleep with a knife.

The incident happened around 2 a a.m. Saturday, according to another neighbor who saw Aquino at the Moniceas, Saligao said.

Aquino was arrested about three hours later.

“He did not deny it. He said the father was having an affair with his wife and (killing the children) was his way of getting back at him,” Saligao said.

The victims’ mother works as a house helper in San Pablo City, Laguna and was away when the crime happened, Saligao said.
