Cold front to bring rain to Central, south Luzon
MANILA, Philippines—The weather bureau has alerted residents of Central and Southern Luzon to moderate and heavy rains that could trigger flash floods and landslides with the tail-end of a cold front affecting the area.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) forecasters said Nueva Ecija, Aurora and Quezon provinces should brace for cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rain showers and thunderstorms.
Senior forecaster Jori Loiz explained that the tail-end of a cold front was the point where the amihan (northeast monsoon) and easterly winds converged. He said it was basically where hot and cold air met, causing precipitation or rain.
“Currently the tail-end of the cold front is over Southern Luzon but it is expected to move lower in the next few days,” Loiz said.
Other portions of Central and Southern Luzon, including Bicol, the rest of Calabarzon and Central Luzon, the Mindoro provinces as well as Marinduque, Romblon and Metro Manila are expected to be cloudy with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms.

With the amihan prevailing over Northern Luzon, Pagasa’s forecast for Sunday said the Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Central Luzon will have cloudy skies with light rains.
