3 cops wounded as 2 bombs explode in North Cotabato

MAGPET, North Cotabato, Philippines—Three policemen assigned with the North Cotabato Provincial Police Office were injured when communist rebels set off an improvised explosive device (IED) here around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

In a report, Capt. Manuel Gatus, spokesperson of the Philippine Army’s 57th Infantry Battalion, said the policemen were responding to a reported harassment by New People’s Army rebels in Barangay Bagumbayan when the bomb exploded.

“There were two IEDs that exploded, which resulted in the slight wounding of the PNP members,” Gatus said by phone.

The wounded policemen were rushed to a hospital and were already declared safe and in stable condition, he added.
