New chiefs for PRO-7, PDEA

Incoming Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo met yesterday with Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia.

He accompanied Chief Supt. Ager Ontog, during an exit call in the governor’s office prior to Ontog’s transfer to Camp Crame.

Garbo, who has served as deputy regional director for operation, said he admired the “hands-on” management style of Garcia.

Garbo is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1981.

Some of his classmates had served the post in Cebu province such as Chief Supt. Valmoria and Chief Supt. Vicente Loot.

Ontog, who was appointed PRO-7 chief in Aug. 14, 2010, will relinquish his post on Monday He is due for a promotion.

Meanwhile, Jigger Montallana assumed his new post yesterday as regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) in a turnover ceremony in Cebu City.

He said erring drug agents will not be condoned and promised transparency under his watch.

Montallana, a native of Zamboanga City, is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 2002 and one of the the Magdalo soldiers.

He replaced Adrian Alvarino, who was transferred to the national headquarters.
