MANILA, Philippines – A commissioned police officer was caught selling illegal drugs by his colleagues and anti-narcotic agents in Pampanga, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Wednesday.
Chief Inspector Julius Caesar Ablang, of Sta. Rosa, Laguna province, and Aiko Mallari, of Mabalacat town, Pampanga, were arrested by the joint forces of PDEA and police after they sold shabu, or metamphetamine hydrochloride, to a poseur buyer on Sunday afternoon.
Undersecretary Arturo Cacdac, PDEA director, said a buy-bust operation led to the arrest of Ablang, 41, and Mallari, 22 for selling a sachet of shabu.
Confiscated from them were five pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a digital weighing scale, disposable lighter, aluminum foil and the P500 used as buy-bust money.
Several charges for violating sections of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 have been filed against the suspects.
The police officer’s arrest came amid the controversy over the alleged involvement of 10 other policemen in a robbery-abduction in Mandaluyong City on Sept. 1.
