Sandiganbayan rules out Revilla transfer to regular jail
MANILA, Philippines—The Sandiganbayan first division denied for lack of merit the state prosecutors’ move to transfer Senator Ramon Revilla Jr. to a regular jail as he faces plunder over the pork barrel scam.
In a resolution released on Thursday, the division junked the state prosecution’s motion to transfer Revilla to a regular jail from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center, where he is currently detained as he stands trial for plunder.
Revilla, along with Senators Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile, faces plunder and graft over their alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam, the alleged diversion of public funds to ghost projects for kickbacks under the scheme of Janet Lim-Napoles.
