7 companies bid for military aircraft supply

MANILA, Philippines-Increasing its capabilities up in the air, the Armed Forces of the Philippines on Monday put seven companies to bid for the opportunity to supply two long-ranged patrol aircraft worth P5.98-billion.

Originally, 10 companies purchased bid documents from the Department of National Defense, but three did not submit offers.

Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Company from the United States, Elta Systems Ltd. and Elbit Systems Ltd. from Israel, Saab Asia Pacific Co. Ltd. from Sweden, EADS-CASA Airbus Defense and Space from Spain, and PT Dirgantara Indonesia from Indonesia have submitted their bids for the project.

Field Aviation, Raytheon Company, and Arinc Aerospace expressed interest but did not submit its bid papers.

As of posting time, the DND is still validating the bid offers from the seven companies.
