MANILA, Philippines–With the southwest monsoon (Habagat) getting some boost from Typhoon “Jose” (international name: Halong), the weather bureau on Tuesday raised a yellow rainfall alert over Metro Manila and neighboring provinces.
In its bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) raised the warning level at 11:30 am Tuesday with Cavite, Batangas, Bataan, Zambales, portions of Laguna and Rizal also under the warning level.
Areas under the yellow warning level would experience heavy rains that may persist for the next three hours. Flooding may also prevail in the said areas.
In a separate bulletin, Pagasa said that “Jose” was last spotted at 805 kilometers east of Calayan Islands at 10 a.m.
“Jose” packs maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of 185 kph.
It is trailing a path of north northeast at 15 kph.
