MANILA, Philippines–Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada was put back in jail at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center after attending a hearing at the Sandiganbayan on Tuesday morning.
The senator, who wore a white top with an orange ribbon representing “unity,” arrived at Camp Crame at around 12:49 p.m. escorted by several police vehicles.
The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division earlier heard Estrada’s petition for bail. After about three hours of trial, the senator’s convoy left the court at around 12 p.m.
With Estrada during the hearing was his father, Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada, to show support for the detained lawmaker.
