MANILA, Philippines–A three-year-old who went missing Saturday night was found dead the next morning floating on a Quezon City creek.

Angel Zyren Aquino of Seminary Road, Barangay (village) Bahay Toro, in Project 8, was last seen playing outdoors by her mother, Nancy, around 6 p.m. Saturday.

The girl’s body was found 12 hours later on Dario River in Sitio (settlement) Incinerator, in the same barangay. PO2 Julius Ceasar Balbuena, of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said the child bore no other injury except for scratches on her left palm.

It was possible that she accidentally fell into the waterway and injured her hand, he added.–Jeannette I. Andrade
