MEZ 2 locator goes green

FOR three consecutive years, NKC Manufacturing Philippines Corp. in Mactan Economic Zone 2 sponsored another reforestation project.

More than 130 volunteers headed by NKC anti-pollution committee chairman, engineer Edmond Dantes Ouano trooped to barangay Guba, Cebu City last Aug. 20 to plant 5,000 forest trees and fruit-bearing trees.

Barangay Guba is the site of a future nature park to be developed by the Cebu City government within its 17-hectare property.

The reforestation project was also participated by NKC president Junichi Ishida, together with Japanese managers Haruhide Ono, Yoshifumi Yamaguchi, Tadashi Tokuda and Mitsuyoshi Minami.

Alternative Learning System students and teachers from Operation Mobilization, a non-government organization, also joined the tree planting, which was in partnership with the Pollution Control Association of the Philippines Inc. region 7, Cebu City Agriculture Office and Kapunongan sa mga Banikanhong Mag-uuma alang sa ekonomekanhong kalambuan, a farmers organization based in sitio Catives I, barangay Guba.
