MANILA, Philippines–As Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. entered jail for the first time, he immediately complained of severe migraine.

His lawyer Joel Bodegon told reporters that the Senator, who submitted himself earlier at Sandiganbayan following the issuance of his arrest warrant, is currently experiencing migraine due to the heat in his detention facility.

Upon learning her husband’s condition, Revilla’s wife and Bacoor representative Lani Mercado reportedly rushed to the nearest store to buy medicines for his migraine, toiletries and other basic necessities. Mercado also requested for the PNP to allow at least an air cooler inside Revilla’s cell.

Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, Public Information Office chief, earlier said that even the smallest appliance should be subjected for the court’s approval.

Revilla is now detained at the high-security Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center.

The police, however, refused to specify where exactly in the compound Revilla was detained.

Revilla’s immediate family members are in a makeshit holding area for visitors in front of the PNP Custodial Center.
