Read the Bible, pray and do push-ups

MANILA, Philippines – Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. on Tuesday said he’d do push-ups, read the Bible and pray to fight boredom in jail once he is arrested.

“Bawal daw ang computer, no cellphones. Siguro mag pu-push up na lang ako, pag nakita nyo ko mas malaki pa katawan ko sa dating Panday,” he said in jest, responding to reporters’ questions during a press conference.

(Computer and cellphones are not allowed. Maybe I’ll just do push-ups so when you see me I’ll be bigger than the old Panday [referring to a fictional folk hero he had portrayed in his movies])

“Dasal. Bibliya.  Huwag naman sanang ipagbawal yung libro, bibliya…(Prayer. Bible. I hope they would not prohibit books and the Bible),” he added.

Like Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce-Enrile, Revilla said he also has packed his things while waiting to get arrested by authorities.

“Naka-ready na ko sa warrant of arrest. Ready na yung gamit ko, nandyan na sa sasakyan ko, kung san man ako, I’m ready,” Revilla said.

(I’m ready for the warrant of arrest. My things are ready, they’re in my car, so wherever I am, I’m ready.)

Enrile last week said that he had already prepared his things, adding he was ready to die inside his cell.

Revilla and Enrile, along with Senator Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada and several other individuals,   have been charged with plunder and graft  at the Sandiganbayan  in connection with the “pork barrel” scam.

The three senators have been barred by the court from leaving the country but no warrant of arrest has been issued against them yet.

While ready to be jailed anywhere, Revilla said he would leave it up to his legal team whether or not to appeal any decision that would mean detention in a regular  jail.

“Pero para sa akin, kahit saan okay lang ako. Kung gusto nila akong ibartolina ok lang basta

ready na ako,” said the senator.

(But for me, I’m okay anywhere. If they want me to put in a dungeon, it’s ok. I’m ready)

Revilla said filing a petition for bail though remained an option.

“Naniniwala pa rin naman ako na may patas pa rin akong hustisya dito sa atin at sana nga maging patas ang Sandiganbayan sa lahat ng aspeto na yan,” he said.

(I still believe that I can get a fair justice here and I hope the Sandiganbayan would be fair in  all these aspects,)
