Hoping to be one step ahead of motorbike-riding criminals, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has seized over 100 unregistered motorcycles parked on the streets, some of them turning out to be owned by its members.
QCPD director Chief Supt. Richard Albano said motorcycles found without license plates or registration stickers issued by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) were impounded to have their ownership verified or to check if they were stolen. The campaign was conducted for 24 hours, from Tuesday morning to Wednesday.
“We found at least 10 motorcycles owned by our policemen that are not registered and do not have license plates,” Albano said. The policemen are assigned in different QCPD stations and have been ordered to immediately register their bikes with the LTO, he added.
The other seized motorcycles were brought to the QCPD headquarters in Camp Karingal.
