CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna–Two alleged criminals were shot dead by a policeman after trying to steal the lawman’s motorcycle in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, on Tuesday noon.

Supt. Carlos Barde, Dasmariñas City police chief, in a phone interview on his way to the crime scene, said the two men, who rode in tandem on a motorcycle, tried to steal the motorcycle of Police Officer 2 Francis Hernandez in Barangay (village) Sampaloc 3.

Quoting Hernandez, Barde said the former fought back and shot dead the supposed robbers.

“They might not have not known he was a cop,” Barde said, since Hernandez was off duty when the incident took place around 12 noon.

He said police investigation is underway to identify the slain men. Hernandez, who is also assigned to Dasmariñas City, did not attempt to escape.
