Grade 1 student dies, 3 others hurt in Pangasinan village road accident
MANILA, Philippines–A grade one student in Pangasinan province was killed in a traffic accident involving a local government official on the first day of school opening on Monday, a belated report reaching the Philippine National Police here said Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson, said aside from the lone fatality, three others were hurt when the tricycle they were riding and driven by Rafe Dismaya, was hit by a van driven by Rogelio Hufana, village chairman of Inmalor Sur, at 12:30 p.m Monday.
The grade 1 pupil was declared dead on arrival while grade 7 and grade 6 students, and one adult sustained injuries in the accident on Osmeña Road in Barangay Angio, San Fabian town.
Mayor said the San Fabian Municipal Police Station was still investigating the incident.
Earlier Monday, the PNP declared the first day of classes in public elementary and high schools as “generally peaceful.”
