MANILA, Philippines–After months of staying in the hospital, Janet Lim-Napoles has finally left the Ospital ng Makati to be transferred back to her Fort Sto. Domingo detention room in Laguna.
Wearing a bulletproof vest and hoodie, Napoles was wheeled out of the hospital and into a waiting van that left around 9:36 p.m. with a convoy of around 50 policemen.
Among the security escorts were Senior Superintendent Roberto Fajardo,Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) National Capital Region chief, and Senior Superintendent Ronald Santos, deputy regional director for operations of the Calabarzon police.
Earlier Thursday, the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) ordered the immediate transfer of Napoles back to jail after a series of pleas to stay in the hospital.
The detained businesswoman was admitted at on March 31.
Napoles’ return to jail was delayed after the court granted her petition to stay in the hospital longer because of her recurring vaginal bleeding after she underwent total hysterectomy and a bilateral salpingo-ophorectomy removing her uterus and both ovaries last April 23.
In the four-page order, it said Napoles was informed of her discharge at 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday.
The order was signed by her attending physicians Elsie Pascua and Efren Domingo, and written by Dr. Florentina Villanueva, chairperson of the hospital’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
In a medical progress report submitted by Napoles’ doctors to the court, the physicians said they were confident that “bleeding (of Napoles) will not recur if the patient complies with the prescribed treatment regimen including complete bed rest and a stress-free environment.”
Also, Branch 150 Judge Elmo Alameda asked Calabarzon police health chief Police Inspector Magnolia Ruth Priscilla Bermudez to “carry out post-operative care” as recommended by her physicians.
The police were told to have a guard, preferably a nurse, to look over Napoles.
