Cabby gets four months for threatening to post photos of passengers in undies

Taxi driver Mohamed Rafee Abdul Rahman was sentenced to four months in jail after threatening to post revealing photos of a couple on YouTube after finding them on a phone left in the back of his taxi. ST/ANN

SINGAPORE—A cabby threatened to post revealing photos of a couple on YouTube after finding them on a phone left in the back of his taxi.

Mohamed Rafee Abdul Rahman, 33, tried to extort 10,000 Singaporean dollar from the passengers in return for not revealing images of the couple in their underwear.

On Friday the former driver was sentenced to four months in prison  after he admitted to the crime, although he was considering to appeal the ruling.

District Judge Lim Keng Yeow said the crime was committed in a “grossly reprehensible” manner.
