PNP: Court order to bring Napoles back to jail still stands

MANILA, Philippines—Despite another motion filed by the detained businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles to extend her stay at the Ospital ng Makati (OsMak), the Philippine National Police (PNP) maintained that the order of the court to bring her back to jail still stands.

The PNP, which is the agency tasked to secure every movement of Napoles in and out of jail, reiterated on Wednesday that the transfer order will remain unless the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) allows Napoles to stay longer at OsMak.

“It’s still up to the court to decide whether she would be extended or not so until the court issues an order, we will comply with its latest decision,” Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor, PNP spokesperson, told reporters.

Earlier Wednesday, Napoles complained of having internal bleeding just as she was ab‎out to be transferred by the PNP security forces.

Mayor said the Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) had already received a directive from the court, giving the PNP the go-signal to transport Napoles back to her detention bungalow at Fort Sto. Domingo in Sta. Rosa, Laguna until Friday, May 23.

This was in compliance with the decision of Judge Elmo Alameda of the Makati RTC branch 150 denying the motion of Napoles to stay at OsMak until her post-operation check-ups are completed due to lack of merit.

But the physician and gynecologist of Napoles said in a press briefing minutes after the statement of PNP that they recommend Napoles to stay in the hospital.

The doctors advised Napoles to have a complete bed rest.

She has been admitted to OsMak since March 31 to undergo a total hysterectomy and a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy or removal of her entire uterus and both ovaries.

According to Mayor, the usual security contingent escorting Napole‎s is composed of Special Action Forces (SAF), Highway Patrol Group (HPG), PNP Health Service, and concerned police districts in Makati and Laguna.

‎”On our part, we could only take care of the security issues. That limits the boundary of our agency,” he added.
