MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) wants charges against the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) committee responsible for dismissing former cadet Jeff Aldrin Cudia, Inquirer Radio 990AM reported on Wednesday.

The report quoted CHR chair Loretta Rosales as saying the commission wants to recommend charges against members of the Honor Committee, which voted for the dismissal of Cudia. But the report did not mention what kind of charges CHR wants to pursue.

In a separate radio report, CHR said the committee also violated the Honor Code when they violated Cudia’s right to due process, non-discrimination, education, privacy and access to justice.

The committee also violated the secrecy of the ballot for allegedly changing the vote to a unanimous one from having eight “guilty” votes and one “non-guilty” vote, CHR said.

Cudia, who was running for third honors, was dismissed from the PMA on Feb. 10, for allegedly lying to justify his being late to a class. Lying is considered a major violation of the PMA’s Honor Code.
