Manila, Philippines—A 5.9-magnitude earthquake jolted Ilocos Sur Tuesday dawn, the Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
A bulletin issued by Phivolcs said the quake occured 71 kilometers southwest of Vigan City at 4:45 a.m.
It added that the earthquake was felt in some parts of Ilocos region with Intensity IV recorded in Sinait, Cabugao, San Juan, Macsingal, Sto. Domingo, San Ildefonso, Bantay, Cauayan, Sta. Catalina, Santa in Ilocos Sur and Batac City and Paoay in Ilocos Norte.
Intensity III was felt in Narvacan, Sta. Maria, Burgos, and San Esteban in Ilocos Sur.
Phivolcs said no casualties and damages were reported.
