22 houses destroyed, 3 hurt as violent wind storm hits village
GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Three persons were confirmed to have been injured following the violent wind storm that descended on Barangay Tinagacan here, Mayor Ronnel Rivera said Monday.
Rivera said all the victims, who he did not identify, were in stable condition.
The mayor said at least 22 houses were destroyed while 136 families in eight communities in Tinagacan were affected by the whirlwind, which struck Sunday afternoon.
Rivera said as of Monday, the affected families had received initial assistance.
He said he already instructed the city social welfare office, along with the engineering and disaster risk reduction management offices, to continue providing food, water, clothing and other basic needs to the affected families until such time they recuperate from the damages brought by the disaster.
Rivera said the city government will also help the victims reconstruct their damaged houses.
